About Erica Porter

Erica Porter’s journey into classical education began with a spark of curiosity when her youngest child attended Highlands Latin School in Louisville, Kentucky. The depth and rigor of the curriculum captivated her, leading her to fully embrace the classical model. When her family relocated to Alabama, she chose to home-educate her children using the Memoria Press curriculum—developed by Highlands Latin School—while enriching their education through local co-ops and academic programs. Now, with her oldest child in college, her perspective on education continues to evolve, reinforcing her belief that learning is not just about acquiring knowledge, but about the lifelong pursuit of wisdom.

In addition to her passion for education, Erica is a highly accomplished financial professional with over twenty years of experience in tax accounting. She holds both CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designations and specializes in tax planning for high-net-worth individuals, small businesses, estates, and trusts. After earning her Master’s in Taxation from the University of Illinois, she built a distinguished career with both national and regional firms before founding Porter & Associates CPA PLLC in Charlottesville, Virginia—a firm known for its expertise in tax compliance and personalized financial solutions.

Yet, above all her professional and academic achievements, Erica treasures her faith and her family. Her husband, Michael, and their three children are her greatest blessings, offering strength, encouragement, and joy in every season of life. She finds deep inspiration in James 1:5-6:  “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.”

With a heart for both classical education and financial stewardship, Erica Porter is committed to fostering wisdom, both in the classroom and beyond. Whether guiding students through timeless texts or helping others navigate financial complexities, her goal remains the same—to seek truth, pursue excellence, and encourage others in their own journeys of learning and growth.
