Theatre Teacher

About Julie Nickerson

Julie earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Liberty University and brings a wealth of experience from her work with media and marketing companies, where she honed her skills in client and customer communication. With over 30 years of service in children and youth ministries, Julie has cultivated a passion for mentoring and teaching young minds.

Julie’s professional journey includes starting several small businesses, which provided opportunities for public speaking, performing skits, and directing plays. In 2020, she began homeschooling her children, which sparked her love for directing theater productions through a “backyard studio” she created when children’s theaters were closed.

Her journey into Classical Charlotte Mason-inspired education grew from incorporating scripture memorization and shared reading into her homeschooling curriculum. Aletheia’s offerings for high school students aligned with Julie’s desire to provide her 9th grader with meaningful peer engagement while maintaining a homeschool foundation.

Outside of teaching, Julie cherishes time at home with her family. While she enjoys connecting with others, she finds true joy in the quiet moments of reading, traveling to visit extended family, or walking and adventuring with her husband. A lifelong learner, Julie has a keen interest in history, politics, and policy.

Julie’s favorite scripture, Deuteronomy 31:6, reminds her to be strong and courageous, trusting in the Lord’s presence and faithfulness. This verse is a source of hope and strength for her and her family, guiding her through life’s challenges with peace and confidence.
