About Jamie Stokes

Growing up in Midlothian, Virginia, Jamie developed a love for sports, competition, and teamwork, playing soccer and volleyball and running track at Midlothian High School. His dedication and leadership skills earned him an ROTC scholarship to James Madison University, where he pursued a BBA in Accounting before commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in May 2001.

For four years, Jamie served as a Military Intelligence officer, completing two combat tours in the Philippines and Afghanistan. His time in the military shaped his analytical mind and reinforced his commitment to discipline, strategic thinking, and service. Following his active-duty service, he transitioned into a career within the Department of the Army, where he has spent the past two decades as an analyst, senior analyst, and senior leader. His pursuit of knowledge led him to earn an M.A. in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia, deepening his understanding of global dynamics and leadership.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Jamie is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and fostering a love of learning. His enthusiasm for sports extends beyond the field—whether coaching, watching, or playing, he thrives in the camaraderie and life lessons athletics provide. He also enjoys working out, reading, and spending time outdoors, appreciating the beauty of creation and the value of an active lifestyle.

At the heart of everything he does is his family. Married to Jen for nearly 24 years, he and his wife have been blessed with three amazing children who inspire and challenge him daily. Jamie serves as an Elder at Portico Church and has a deep desire to instill biblical truth and understanding in the hearts and minds of those he leads and disciples.  Jamie’s faith plays a central role in his life, and he draws strength from Hebrews 4:14-16, which reminds believers of the confidence they can have in approaching God’s throne of grace, knowing that Jesus, as our great High Priest, understands our struggles and intercedes for us. Whether in the classroom, on the field, or at home, Jamie is dedicated to shaping young minds, encouraging curiosity, and instilling a sense of purpose in the next generation.
