For Caley Wilkenson, teaching is an opportunity to share two lifelong loves: working with children and discovering the richness of great books. She holds a degree in Secondary English Education with a minor in Psychology from the University of Mississippi and has three years of teaching experience with students in grades four through eight.
Caley considers it a gift to walk alongside students as they learn about the world around them. Even more meaningful to her is the opportunity to point them toward Christ and encourage them in their faith. Her experience as a classically homeschooled student shaped her love for literature and her belief in an education that invites students to encounter great ideas, ask thoughtful questions, and grow in wisdom. Having loved her own homeschooling experience, she hopes to homeschool her children one day using the Charlotte Mason philosophy.
At Aletheia, Caley enjoys sharing the books and ideas that shaped her love of learning while helping students appreciate the beauty and depth of literature. She hopes her students will discover the same joy in reading and learning that she experienced growing up.
Away from teaching, Caley loves reading, crafting, spending time with her family, and browsing antique and thrift shops. Her favorite biblical story is the parable of the prodigal son. She sometimes sees herself in both the younger son and his older brother, and she is continually amazed by God’s steadfast love. The parable reminds her that even in moments of selfishness and failure, God remains faithful and does not abandon His children.
