About Charlotte Hansen

Charlotte Hansen believes that learning should be a source of joy because our minds are a gift from the Lord. She hopes to nurture that joy in her students, helping them discover the pleasure of reading, the wonder of history, and the lasting value of a life devoted to learning.

Charlotte teaches fourth- and fifth-grade history, literature, Bible, writing, and language arts. She holds a liberal arts degree with an emphasis in teaching from The Master’s University in Southern California, where she also spent a semester studying abroad in Israel on a tennis scholarship. In addition to her teaching background, Charlotte holds a Barton Program certification, which equips her to help children and adults with dyslexia learn to read using an Orton-Gillingham approach.

Charlotte’s experience as an educator is deeply personal. She has homeschooled her three sons for more than ten years and worked as a reading tutor for three years. Through these experiences, she has seen the importance of helping children build strong foundations while developing a genuine love for learning. She believes that when children are encouraged to enjoy learning from an early age, they are better prepared to become lifelong learners.

Charlotte’s own love of learning extends well beyond the classroom. She almost always keeps a stack of books on her nightstand and reads as part of her daily life. Cooking is another creative outlet, and she loves experimenting with new recipes for her three hungry boys. Once an avid runner who completed six half-marathons, Charlotte now enjoys taking one or two walks each day.

Psalm 1 has long been Charlotte’s favorite passage. Just as plants need water to flourish, she believes we need the nourishment of God’s Word. She especially loves the reminder that the Lord’s instruction is not a burden but a delight, a source of joy and life for those who walk in His ways.
