Introduction to Artificial Intelligence

About John Dimeo

John Dimeo teaches Introduction to AI at Aletheia United Academy and brings extensive experience in computer science, software engineering, data science, and artificial intelligence. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and has since worked as a full-stack software engineer and architect across a variety of industries.

Before joining Compassion International, where he worked to fight poverty using data in Jesus’ name, John spent more than fifteen years at Elder Research. His work there included government, medical, financial, and commercial projects involving a wide range of technologies. He also brings experience in predictive analytics and a strong foundation in data science and AI.

For John, the growing influence of artificial intelligence makes classical Christian education especially relevant. As technology becomes increasingly capable, he believes students need to cultivate the distinctly human capacities of critical thinking and biblical discernment. He appreciates the Socratic and rhetorical traditions of classical education because they provide enduring tools for asking good questions, evaluating ideas, and thinking wisely about even the newest technologies.

Outside of work, John’s interests include music, particularly drumming for his church, and board games. He especially enjoys complex European-style strategy games, complete with extensive rules and plenty of little wooden pieces.

John’s favorite passage is Joshua 3:15. As Israel crosses the Jordan, the waters begin to part after the priests carrying the ark step into the river. John finds in this a reminder that God’s provision is not always visible before we take the next step. Faith often means moving forward in trust, believing that God will provide even when we cannot yet see how.
